Tog Jigs and Blackfish Jigs, Poured in the USA

Tautog, called tog or blackfish, live tight to rocks, wrecks, jetties, bridge pilings and mussel beds, and they will strip a crab off a hook in a heartbeat. A tog jig puts a strong hook right under the crab and keeps it on the bottom where tog feed. We are a family-owned and operated tackle shop, and we pour and paint our own tog jigs right here in the USA on Mustad hooks. New to it? Read our tog jig guide: size, weight and color for blackfish.

Shop Tog Jigs by Style

  • Tog Taco Jigs: our tautog jig in 2/0 to 6/0 Mustad 2X hooks, built heavy for deep wrecks and big blackfish.
  • Fish Taco Jigs: 1/8oz to 4oz on Mustad 2X hooks, in crackle, halo, glitter and blended colors for shallow rocks and jetties.
  • Bridge Donkey Jigs: a sheepshead and tog jig on a Mustad 2X hook, also offered on a Mustad Ultra-Nor 4X hook for the biggest fish.
  • Boxing Glove Jigs: a compact sheepshead and tog jig on a Mustad 2X hook.
  • Bottom Sweeper Jigs: a sheepshead and tog jig designed to stay upright and resist snagging on the bottom.

How to Choose a Tog Jig

Use the lightest jig that holds the bottom. Shallow rocks and jetties in light current often need only 1/2oz to 1oz, while deep wrecks and strong tide can take 2oz to 4oz or more. Match the hook to the bait: a 2/0 or 3/0 for half crabs and fiddlers, and a 4/0 to 6/0 for whole green crabs, Asian crabs and big white-chinner tog.

How to Fish a Tog Jig

Tip the jig with a green crab, Asian crab, fiddler or a piece of clam, drop it straight down onto the structure, and keep the line tight. Lift and drop it slowly, and when you feel the tap-tap of a tog crunching the crab, set the hook hard and pull the fish up and away from the rocks before it can dive back in.

These same jigs catch sheepshead down south. Shop sheepshead jigs.
