Crappie Jigs & Panfish Baits, Hand-Poured in the USA

Everything Panfish is our home for crappie, bluegill, perch and sunfish tackle. We're a family-owned shop, and we hand-pour our own soft plastics right here in the USA. Our panfish urchins lead the way, in every size from a .75" micro to a 1.75" slab bait, with glow colors for ice fishing, night fishing and stained water. Panfish Urchin Size Guide

Glow Urchins for Ice Fishing & Low Light

Many of our urchins come in glow colors, including green, white, pink, mustard yellow and orange. Charge them with a flashlight and they light up under the ice, after dark, at dawn and dusk, and in muddy water. The 1" Ice Urchin and .75" Micro Urchin are the go-to sizes for a fresh hole. Tip a small jig and work it with short lifts and pauses.

3 Proven Ways to Fish Panfish Urchins

1. The Bobber Rig

Best for open water and scouting. Rig one or two urchins on light jig heads under a slip bobber, spaced out to cover different depths. Cast to your crappie spot and reel slowly, with an occasional twitch. If the crappie are there, they'll bite.

2. Cast and Retrieve

Best for covering water and finding active fish. Cast out, let it sink to the depth you want, and work it back with small hops so the tentacles pulse and dance.

3. Vertical Jigging

Our favorite way to fish for crappie. Drop an urchin on a crappie jig straight down into brush piles, fallen trees or a crappie hole. Lift it slowly, then let it fall. If you fish with forward-facing sonar, our scoping weights help you track your jig on screen.

Ultralight Setup for Panfish

  • Jig weight: 1/64 oz to 1/16 oz is the sweet spot for most urchins. Try our 1/64 oz dart jig heads.
  • Rod: 5'6" to 7' ultralight or light power with a fast tip.
  • Line: 2 lb to 4 lb mono or fluorocarbon. High-visibility line helps you see light bites.
