Hunting and Fishing Depot is a family-owned and operated tackle shop, and we pour and paint our own inshore jigs right here in the USA. These are the saltwater jig heads we fish ourselves for redfish, speckled trout, flounder, snook and black drum. Rig them with your favorite soft plastic, paddle tail swimbait or shrimp imitation, or tip them with live bait, and you are ready for the flats, marsh, docks, jetties and passes.

What Makes a Good Inshore Jig

A good inshore jig head has to do three things: hold a soft plastic, look like bait and stand up to saltwater fish. A long barbed keeper keeps your soft plastic from sliding down the hook after every strike. 3D eyes matter because gamefish key on the eyes of baitfish. And a strong, sharp saltwater hook keeps a bull redfish or a big snook pinned all the way to the boat.

How to Choose Inshore Jig Weight and Color

Match your jig weight to the depth and current. Go light on shallow grass flats and in skinny marsh water so the bait falls slowly and stays out of the grass. Go heavier in deep channels, inlets, passes and strong tide so you stay in contact with the bottom. For jig head color, chartreuse, pink and white stand out in stained or muddy water, while red, copper and unfinished lead look natural in clear water.
